Quick update from teh Warren!
Uhh.. yeah. Quick. 'cause I'm going to bed soon. Soooo... I've been busy. I work 42-44 hours a week regularly, I literally have more overtime opportunity than I can shake a stick at, and my boss is AWESOME. Also, as of today, I have been employed by StarTek for 3 months. What's that mean you ask? It means along with last week's raise to $10/hour, I now have A) Full company health benefits, and B) I have passed the 90 day probationary period required by Canadian law. This means that I can't quit without 2 weeks notice, and they can't fire me without me acting in a way to get myself fired. Also, I impressed some bigwigs from the client by using our semi-annoying call survey program today. Hell, I'd have been using it the entire time but it always intimidated me because we missed training on it. Turns out you just have to enter the number of who you talk to, and why they called. I always thought it was somehow more complicated, so I've started using it 100% of the time. Once I get my other stats up, I'll be rocking hardcore! Anyhow, yes, sleep now. :O | | Wednesday, August 16th, 2006 | | 12:09 am |
Woot, job update!
So, yesterday was the big big big crazy exam, the Exam O' Death as it were at work. So yes, how did I, Mr. "I suck at school and anything resembling school, also I missed the ENTIRE DAY pretty much of credit card transactions" do on this exam full of credit card questions? .......... ........................................ ... 97%! 34/35 questions right! Best mark in the class! :O Current Mood: excited | | Friday, August 4th, 2006 | | 12:14 pm |
Woo, first payday!
I have no clue exactly how much I got, or if direct deposit worked, but YAY! MONEY!!! :O Current Mood: happy | | Friday, July 21st, 2006 | | 8:34 pm |
Oh, hey! Shit!
Yeah, guess I should update this thing. So.... yeah... I got a job! :D Working for StarTek Services Limited, aka the newest, and generally nicest looking call center in town. Also known as that company that turned me down back in February. The ones I really liked but they couldn't hire me because their client wanted everyone to have high school diplomas. Pfft. Turns out that didn't work so well, as anyone WITH a high school diploma who isn't in debt to the mob will already have a much nicer job. So they hired me! I had orientation today. Waking up at 7am to get there for 8 sucked, but training's 3:30pm-11:45pm, so I can actually sleep in LATER than I did while job hunting. Still, $9.50/hour, 5 weeks of full time training, 2 weeks of on the floor shiftwork with a designated experienced supervisor to bail my ass out if I fuck up, and then I'll be a full fledged call support person for... a third party that I seriously cannot name due to a NDA I signed. Still, the cafeteria has a big TV in it, that will soon be hooked up to a satelite dish. I get a week's paid vacation in my first year that I can take any time I want, and promotions across the company are open to anyone regardless of age, race, sex, blahblahblah. So OBVIOUSLY next year when the opening for CEO comes up, my sheer awesome will net me a huge promotion. To CEO. And then I'll be king of the world. So yes, uhh, also I found myself a copy of Woken Furies by Richard K. Morgan, thus I now own all 3 Takeshi Kovacs novels. Only this one is odd. This one is an advanced uncorrected proof sent to apparently bookstores to convince them to buy the book. I'm just guessing as there's a wide variety of marketing information on the back about contacting Del Ray to schedule a stop by the author, and other junk. And it was only $0.50 at the Library's used book store. Oh, AND I baked cheese bread earlier. Also, I'm making stirfry for supper Sunday, and turkey salad sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. Best. Weekend. EVAR. | | Monday, May 15th, 2006 | | 10:40 am |
Behold, I am....
Still unemployed. But my lack of any job or other responsibilities is a strength. I've filled out about 5 applications in the last week, and my availability has been 'anything' on every one. So here's hoping Safeway knows I'd make a goddamn KICK-ASS deli clerk. Or shelf stocker dude. A&P's application is much longer and more annoying, so I'll have to take it home when I grab it this afternoon, and I'm just going to hand out more resumes at other places, because they don't have application forms. | | Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 | | 5:41 pm |

Woo!
I have a job interview at 7pm. Working nights at a local grocery store. It's not going to be easy, because uhh... well, stuff is usually open during the days. But I do believe there's some law involving pay raises if you work nights, so that's wicked awesome. Plus, employee discount at a place that sells everything from clothes to fresh fruit. And I'll work my ass off to get promoted to dayshift ASAP, or at least to keep the job. So go me! | | Wednesday, April 5th, 2006 | | 10:50 am |
RARGH! Warren SMASH stupid government!
So yeah. Prepare for the epic "How Warren got completely and utterly fucked over by the government" So, the local college offers a GED course. You pay $80, get a book, do 5 tests over 2 days, and that's it. You've proved you know everything you need to graduate high school. Only instead, when they signed me up for welfare, they MADE me do this stupid course-by-course one. Which takes about 6 weeks a course, and I have 10 courses. And I can't DO the simple test and get this job I've been offered because A) The tests are only in July, and B) Because of Ontario Dumbass Works, I don't meet the 'have not been enrolled in school in 1 year.' criteria. The criteria I met BEFORE I got on welfare. The criteria that would let me have a job RIGHT NOW!!!! >_______< I seriously could have a $10/hour job right now, but instead I'm stuck doing this course-by-course shit that's the most dull and tedious bullshit around. Every credit has 25 lessons. It takes 2 weeks to mark lessons. You can only have 5 in at a time. Meaning that it will take me a small fucking eternity for me to finish. So I'm going to phone the GED place and see if this stupid-ass bullshit adult education thing counts as school. If it doesn't, yay. If it does, I'll probably turn into the incredible hulk and hurl a bus through something. Current Mood: enraged | | Tuesday, March 28th, 2006 | | 2:32 am |

Wish me luck!
I've got a job interview in... 2 and half hours. So yay me! DSL Tech support, no clue what the wages are, but it's full time, at the old RMH call center. So if I get it, it's one bus ride to get there, one bus ride to get back, and lots of good places around for lunch. Current Mood: hopeful | | Monday, January 2nd, 2006 | | 2:35 pm |
Once again, stolen from Tabby! At last, a purpose in life. Tom Cruise, watch your back! :O Also.. I am annoyed because in making this post, I have discovered LJ lacks some very important moods. Namely, evil, insane, and dastardly. :O Current Mood: predatory | | Thursday, December 29th, 2005 | | 1:38 pm |
So... yeah. ( Stolen from Tabby! )Well now, wasn't that just fun? Yeah, so I'm going to go get a shirt on, and check the mail. Also, maybe make myself a little something to snack on. Current Mood: bored | | Tuesday, November 8th, 2005 | | 11:20 am |
Time for one of those update dealies
What with the words and the sentences and stuff. Not alot going on, there's 18 days untill my 21st birthday, so that'll be... boring. I'm going to sit at home, eat pizza, and watch DVDs of Corner Gas, the funniest Canadian TV show since This Hour Has 22 Minutes. Not much to say beyond that. I woke up about 20 minutes ago, and managed to bolt 'upright' while laying on my side. I thwacked my head on the wall nicely. o_O I need to head over to the library, and snag up the two, or by the time I get there, possibly 4, trade paperbacks I have on hold. I'll probably spend this week sitting at home again, but it beats laying at home. :P Current Mood: awake | | Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 | | 3:16 pm |
Blah.
That about sums things up right now. Current Mood: blah | | Wednesday, September 14th, 2005 | | 12:55 pm |
Hum da dum
Yep. Boring. That more or less sums things up lately. My beloved PS2, or as I've nicknamed it "Ol' Clicky" Started giving off loud death clicks again, so Futureshop is now shipping it around the country in the back of one of their shitty trucks. So I'm bored because I lack video games. Also, the volunteer placement I'm supposed to start, is supposed to call me for an interview. They haven't called yet, and if they don't call by around noon tomorrow, I'm supposed to call the cool lady who set this up for me, so she can smite people for being lazy. Beyond that, I'm hideously bored. I've got my school schedule worked out for the rest of the year, so that's good, but mostly I'm just sitting around bored as of late. :O Current Mood: bored | | Sunday, August 28th, 2005 | | 3:23 am |
Another update!
Yup, not sure what to put here. Things are quiet, it's damn near 3:30am and I'm just barely beginning to feel tired. Uhhh... hell, I really don't know what to put. Maybe I'll add to this post later or something. o_o Current Mood: tired | | Thursday, August 11th, 2005 | | 3:35 pm |
So, seems like time for an update
I figure hey, stuff's going on! Well, I continue my education, and hopefully will be in a position to sign up for college next year. I'm getting started a little late, but hey. I've also decided I'm going to go into social work sorta. Basically, helping people with mental disabilities use computers. There's a few places locally that offer the service, and starting in a week or two I'll be volunteering there doing more or less the same thing. The placement lasts 6 months, and I'm going to aim for getting a job as soon as I'm done volunteering. I'll have a couple really good references on my resume, and being able to start saving up money again would be quite nice. Also, I totally just erased my CD drive about 20 minutes ago. Don't ask me how, somehow Kodak's piss-poor shitty-ass, we-don't-know-how-to-use-computers-durrr rr camera setup program decided that no, since it couldn't find the camera drivers on my hard drive, drive d couldn't be my CD-ROM drive. it was a 'removable drive' that couldn't be opened because it thought it was a hard drive. So I got my CD drivers and voila, bob's your uncle. Also, I've been reading alot of comics lately. So... yeah. Rock on me. o_o | | Monday, July 4th, 2005 | | 2:20 pm |
And THIS is why i don't clean my room.
Yeah. I cleaned my room. ALOT. It's as clean as it was when I moved in. In reward, Windows refuses to boot up, and kept giving me errors about Norton Anti-Virus. So I uninstalled it, fine, no more Norton errors. But I still can't load windows normally. So I'm just going to format the bloody thing tomorrow, and use my old computer for tonight. Right now I'm at my brother's because he has our only windows 98 Cd. And his keyboard REALLY sucks. I miss mine. ;_; Current Mood: annoyed | | Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 | | 10:48 pm |
Update-o-rama
By which I mean... UPDATE! :O So yeah. It's not much of an o-rama as I'm only doing this one update. Uhh.. I've been watching alot of cartoons. Bittorrent is my friend. And by friend I mean 'source of Justice League and Invader Zim goodness". On top of that, I just spent $70 on comics. Got the hardcover edition of Batman: Dark Knight Returns, and the trade paperback of Superman: Red Son. They both are quite cool. Also, the art kicks more ass than I can describe. Hmm, what else to put.... we're getting a thunder storm tonight that'll hopefully be gone by morning. Because I hate waiting in the rain for the bus. I have my own copy of Trivial Pursuit now, and it only cost me $2. Aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnd... that's it. So yeah. Short entryness. :o Current Music: Rain. Rainy rain of rainy doom! :O | | Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 | | 8:31 pm |
